Project Literacy
“Any book that helps a child to form a habit of reading, to make reading one of his deep and continuing needs, is good for him. ”
~ Maya Angelou
Project Literacy is Grace Church’s educational outreach program for elementary school students to improve literacy and reading comprehension skills. It meets for six weeks in the summer and throughout the school year on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at Grace Church. Volunteers from Grace, Forest Hills Presbyterian and New College Institute work one on one with students who are enrolled in the Boys and Girls Club’s after school program. Grace does not charge a fee for participation in the program.
“Once you learn to read, you will be forever free.”
